So, a few months ago, a friend of mine ordered a facial cleanser all the way from England, and I laughed at her. Laughed. In her face. But, she continued to use it religiously and her skin became the stuff of my dreams. Don't get me wrong, she didn't have the spotty, bumpy, utterly horrifying skin that graces my face, but she did have her fair share of acne spots and the occasional breakout. But, a few weeks on this fancy cleanser all the way from England and she was no longer sharing in my skin woes. Still, I told myself that the reason her skin suddenly cleared up and got pretty was because she was the type of person who would clean her cell phone every day and take other measures to ensure the health of her skin. Steps that I decided I was too busy (lazy) and rational (lazy) to take just to avoid some breakouts. Anyway, let's make a long story short. A few weeks ago, I was over at her place and decided to try it. I filled the basin with hot water, and rubbed the cleanser over my dry face. Then, dipping the muslin cloth in the hot water and gently wiping my face, I watched it clean my face like nothing had ever done. I ordered it right then. And therein lies the rant component of this post.
Liz Earle is based in the UK, and currently, there are no stores here in Seattle that sell the products. That means I had to order the product from their website, and wait a little bit over a week to begin using it. I have now been using it for exactly two weeks, and although you are supposed to wait four weeks before deciding if a skin care regimen is working for you, I can honestly say that it is the best thing I have ever put near my face. I have been a devout user of the Neutrogena Eye Makeup Remover Lotion for years, and I often used it all over my face and felt satisfied that it was cleaning my face sufficiently. My first night with this new cleanser, I decided to do my normal routine and cleanse my face using my old products and follow it up with the Liz Earle. I literally could not believe the amount of makeup and dirt that came off on the muslin cloth. I still really love my Neutrogena for removing the insane amounts of mascara I like to pile on my eyes, but I know that I will never go without my Liz Earle ever again. Which means, I am now chained to a system of either buying a really expensive face cleanser in bulk (my starter kit set me back $31 including shipping) or figuring out when I'll run out and ordering in advance. I know I won't do either, and I just really hate that it's not more readily available. Anyway, if you have oily, acne-prone skin like me, give this a try.
